Kivalina v. ExxonMobil: The Complete Story
This week on Meet the People, Kells Hetherington discusses Kivalina v. ExxonMobil Corporation. with Brent Newell, general counsel for the Center on Race, Poverty & the Environment. Currently in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the lawsuit seeks compensation of between $95 and $400 million for what it says is flooding damage in Kivalina, Alaska caused by climate change. The lawsuit was filed on February 26, 2008 in US district court.
