Washington, D.C. – Alaskan Congressman Don Young voted today in favor of H.R. 2997, the Agriculture, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for FY 2010 Conference Report. The conference report includes $70 million for rural water and waste water disposal grants for Native Americans, including Native Alaskans, the
Coloniasand residents of Hawaiian Homelands. Alaska is expected to receive about $24.5 million of that total.

Press Release Says, Rep. Young Votes For Defense Authorization

Washington, D.C. – Alaskan Congressman Don Young voted yes today on H.R. 2647, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010. The conference report for H.R. 2647 sets a comprehensive annual defense policy and authorizes budget authority for the Department of Defense (DoD) for Fiscal Year 2010. The legislation authorizes over $550.2 billion for standard operations of the DoD and Department of Energy national security
programs, as well as $130 billion for funding ongoing military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and elsewhere. This bill also contains a provision paying out the pensions of about two dozen elderly members of the World War II-era Alaska Territorial Guard.

Washington, D.C. –Alaskan Congressman Don Young voted this afternoon in favor of H.R. 2647, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010. This bill contained a provision championed by *Rep. Young* since the original legislation was introduced two years ago, to provide for retirement equity for Federal employees in non-foreign areas outside the Lower 48 and Washington, D.C. *Rep. Young* worked with House Armed Services Chairman Ike Skelton to include the language in today’s bill which will replace the cost of living allowances (COLA) for federal employees in Alaska with the locality pay system that has long been in place in the Lower 48.

Press Release Says, House Passes Deadline Delay for Pharmacies Supplying Medical Equipment

Washington, d.c. – The House passed H.R. 3663 by voice vote today, a bill that would delay a deadline by which pharmacies that supply durable medical equipment would be required to obtain accreditation under the Medicare program. Attached is a letter written by Alaska’s Congressional Delegation to Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius asking her to exempt state-licensed pharmacists from the accreditation and
surety bond requirements for suppliers of durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthodontics, and supplies.
