Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin launches a massive publicity blitz today, and the national media is gobbling it up. She’ll appear on a pre-taped episode of the Oprah Winfrey Show, and her book “Going Rogue: An American Life” hits bookstands tomorrow and has already been atop national best seller lists for weeks from pre-sales.
ANCHORAGE – Senate Energy Committee Chair Lesil McGuire today pledged, “We will put the federal DOE stimulus funds to good use all across Alaska,” as Department of Energy Secretary Stephen Chu announced approval of the state’s application and Gov. Sean Parnell’s certification for State Energy Program funds.
The Alaska State Senate today completed its work in the Special Session of the Legislature, voting to confirm the Governor’s line of succession, and to override a Governor’s veto.

Governor Sean Parnell said that he respects the Alaska State Legislature’s authority to override vetoed state energy stimulus funds. Today, Governor Parnell sent a letter to the U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, providing required assurances to accept the $28.6 million in funds for Alaska.

(ANCHORAGE, July 17, 2009) – Legislation being considered by Congress to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide would help pave the way for construction of the Alaska natural gas pipeline, according to Senator Bill Wielechowski (D-Anchorage), Co-chair of the Senate Resources Committee.
July 24, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – The Personnel Board has announced that another ethics complaint against Governor Sarah Palin has been dismissed.
The complaint, the sixth filed by Anchorage resident Andree McLeod, accused the governor of violating the Ethics Act by receiving her salary while campaigning for vice president. The accusation, lodged Monday, was dismissed as legally flawed and factually devoid of merit.
Governor Palin remained on duty, conducted state business, and communicated with her staff and her constituents.

July 24, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin today lauded the U.S. Senate’s efforts to restore military retirement benefits to 26 Alaska Territorial Guard (ATG) members. July 22, 2009, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin today signed two resolutions.
JUNEAU, Alaska—Mirroring an increase in the federal minimum wage to $7.25 an hour, Alaska’s minimum wage will increase 10 cents, from $7.15 an hour. On Jan. 1, the state’s minimum will go to 50 cents above the federal minimum wage, or $7.75 per hour.
