Responsibilities:
Performs general maintenance and repair services for4 the school, including the vehicle and boiler system maintenance. Bus driving as needed – will be required to obtain CDL and bus driver’s license. Involves various record-keeping functions requiring computer skills, and ordering parts and custodial supplies. Must be available after normal work hours as needed.

Terms of Employment: Range VII, $20.56 to $23.71 per hour, DOE.

Full time, twelve months per year, permanent basis. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plan, personal and sick leave.

Qualifications: High School graduate or equivalent. Ability to deal with general public. Able to demonstrate dependability, good judgement skills, and ability to perform assigned duties. Ability to take direction. General Knowledge and ability to operate office machines and equipment. Have knowledge of computer operations. Ability to read and prepare written reports in required format. Be able to organize work, giving attention to priorities and performing duties effectively under pressure. Willing to take training and attend workshops periodically to enhance job performance and knowledge. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Must be neat in appearance. Must be punctual. Have a valid Alaska Driver’s License. Have interest in and general knowledge of Native lifestyle and culture.

Alaska Earth Sciences is currently recruiting for the position of Core Cutter to work in a remote camp located in the vicinity of Balboa Bay. Duration will be approximately June 6–September 2012 (weather dependent). Starting pay will be $22.50 per hour.

Core Cutter Duties may include:

  • Perform daily cutting and sampling of drill core.
  • Organize core boxes.
  • Prepare samples for shipping and analysis.
  • Perform photo documentation of drill core.
  • Assist in drill pad construction and demolition/reclamation.
  • Assist with general camp duties.

Qualifications:

  • Enthusiasm and a  pro-active attitude.
  • Safety awareness and the ability to recognize and report safety concerns.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in challenging situations and remote locations.
  • Experience operating core cutting saws is a plus.
  • Carpentry experience is desirable.
  • Firearms proficiency.
  • Ability to carry a 45lb back pack a distance of 2 miles in 45 minutes and the ability t0 lift and carry 50lbs repeatedly throughout the course of the day.
