As summertime approaches, kids look forward to their time off. But there’s one thing kids shouldn’t take a break from over the summer–reading.

Reading is the most important skill for a child to develop. It is an accrued skill. And like any skill, the more kids practice, the better they get.

Dates: May 3rd, 4th, 5th

On the school stage

May 3, Thursday: 6:30-9:00PM

May 4, Friday: 6:30-9:00 PM

May 5, Saturday: 6:30-9:00PM

It is a GREAT opportunity to stock up for the summer! All items– BUY ONE GET ONE FREE!


City League Basketball Tournament

A 6- Team tounament will take place the weekend with some exciting games! Come cheer on the high school students and adults who are participating!!!

We need volunteers to Ref, operate time clock and score book. (No experience necessary to do the time clock)

There will be tables for rent if you are interested in selling food items, esc. Tables will be $10.00 per session or $25.00 for the entire tournament.

Money raised will go towards purchasing equipment for the school gym/City gym program,

2012 Community Clean Up

Dates: Tuesday, May 8th– Thursday, May 10th
Community BBQ/Prize Drawing
1:00 PM, Thursday May 10th
At the Sand Point School!

Community members are encouraged to clean around their neighborhoods, work places and throughout the community! Thursday, May 10th, the school will have students clean up from 8:30 AM– 1:00 PM. Adults that participate will be awarded one raffle ticket and students will receive one per bag. Leave garbage bags along the roads and the City Public Works crew will collect them. Double check with us that your name makes the list for the drawing! Call the City Office at 2696!

For bags and gloves, stop by
the City Office between
8:00 AM– 4:00 PM!

This annual event is brought to you by the general local businesses throughout the community, the city employees, and the Sand Point School Staff. Thank You!

JOB DESCRIPTION: This position will assist with the City of Sand Point’s bingo operation under the Gaming Auditor for up to10-12 hours per week in the evenings.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Call for Bingo
-Sell Rippies
-Handle Cash Sales Transactions -Count Inventory, Bingo Supplies
QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge in handling money, and financial accountability. Physical requirements: standing, stooping, lifting up to 70 pounds. Must be at least 21 years of age to sell Rippies.
Application forms are available at the City Office. Position begins immediately upon hire. Open Until Filled.

EATS Dental Hygienist

The EATS dental hygienist is in town and will be seeing patients from Monday, April 23 until Friday May 18.  She will see patients from 8-5, Monday through Friday and sees both native and non-native patients.  Please take advantage of this service that EATS has brought to our community.  Appointments can be made by calling the Sand Point clinic at 383-3151.

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAND POINT, ALASKA, AMENDING THE OPERATING BUDGET FOR FY-2012.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE SAND POINT CITY COUNCIL:
SECTION 1. Classification: This is a non-code ordinance.
SECTION 2. Effective Date: This Ordinance becomes effective upon adoption.
