Sand Point’s St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, nestled among the trees surrounding the harbor, is a picturesque reminder of the Russian history of Sand Point. The island, originally settled by Russian explorers, is naturally tree-less and the few trees seen today on the island are additional reminders of the Russian influence.
