The Aleutian East Borough's Hovercraft the SUNA-X

The Aleutians East Borough operates a hovercraft between Cold Bay and King Cove.  The ferry departs King Cove for Cold Bay Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.  Tuesday and Thursdays, the ship sails from King Cove at 11:30am and on Sundays at 10:30am.  The hovercaft makes the return trip to King Cove after it meets the PenAir flight at the Cold Bay Airport.

Transportation is provided in Cold Bay between the airport and the ferry.  In King Cove, passengers must make their own arrangements to get to the ferry terminal.  The King Cove terminal is located several miles from the village in bear country.
