Governor Parnell Issues Fourth of July Message

July 4, 2010, Seward, Alaska – Governor Sean Parnell issued the following statement today in observance of the Fourth of July national holiday:

“Today, we celebrate freedom and the principles of a nation governed by laws, not by tyrants. We know that freedom comes with a price and that we can never take our constitutional rights for granted.

“For 234 years, America, with her heritage of freedom, love of family, patriotism and faith, has served as a beacon of democracy and hope for the world. That beacon still shines brightly today.

“As we celebrate our Independence Day, I urge you to remember the men and women in uniform – and their families — who have given and will give so much for our country.

“And they inspire us, while we enjoy these freedoms, to take personal responsibility for bettering our state and nation.”
