SAND POINT COMMERCIAL SALMON FISHERY ANNOUNCEMENT # 14

Commercial salmon fishing will be allowed in the South Central District and the Shumagin Islands Section of the Southeastern District for 24 hours from 9:00 p.m. Thursday, July 8 until 9:00 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010.


Commercial salmon fishing for set gillnet gear only, will be extended in Orzinski Bay, those waters northwest of a line from Elephant Point at 55º 41.92′ N. lat., 160º 03.20′ W. long. to Waterfall Point at 55º 43.18′ N. lat., 160º 01.13′ W. long., from noon Thursday, July 8 until noon Saturday, July 10, 2010. The closed waters of Orzinski Bay will be reduced to the stream mouth.

The Beaver Bay, Balboa Bay, Southwest Stepovak, East Stepovak, and Stepovak Flats sections of the Southeastern District will open to commercial salmon fishing for approximately 48 hours from 12:01 a.m. Friday, July 9 until 11:59 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010.

All closed waters in the above locations will be as described in the regulation book or as adjusted by emergency order.

Statistical charts and harvest strategies are available at the Sand Point, Cold Bay, and Port Moller Fish and Game offices. News releases and commercial salmon fishing regulations can be found on the ADF&G website at www.cf.adfg.state.ak.us. Salmon fishery announcements will be broadcast on VHF channels 6 and 73 daily at 9:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and may also be obtained from ADF&G in Sand Point at 383-2334 (383-ADFG).
