Schedule: Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Education: Associates of Arts degree in Social Science or closely related field

Salary: Pay starting at $19.53 per hour, DOE

Family Programs is seeking an Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Case Worker based in Sand Point, AK. The individual will work closely with the ICWA Coordinator to provide advocacy and support to ICWA clients and their families through different phases of case.

General duties include: working closely and maintaining regular contact with ICWA case stakeholders; maintaining accurate records and case notes, participating in case meetings as scheduled; conducting home visits when necessary; collaborating closely with Tribal Councils about tribal children; providing education and outreach to community about ICWA program and other Child Welfare topics; identifying families/children who are at risk for child abuse/neglect and provide Pre-ICWA Family Intervention services; advocate for family or tribal placements; traveling for work-related meeting when requested by supervisor; other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Preferred: Associates of Arts degree in Social Science or closely related field of study with two years case management experience in a Social/Human Services agency and/or Tribal organization.

Minimum: High School Graduate and five years case management experience in a Social/Human Services agency and/or Tribal organization. Consideration will be given to applicant with extensive work experience and in the process of obtaining an AA in required field of study.

Applicant must be: Knowledgeable about Child Welfare services, Family Preservation, Foster Care, Adoption, Judicial systems, jurisdiction, court documentation, and local state and tribal governments; able to interact with tribal administrators, board members, executives, managers, and professional and clerical employees effectively, tactfully and cooperatively; communicate clearly and effectively (both orally and in writing); work independently under limited direction; organize work; set priorities to meet critical deadlines; maintain accurate case notes; practice basic mentoring and assessment skills; manage crisis situations calmly and positively; refer clients to necessary resources within community and state-wide; promote Alaska Native and American Indian culture and/or community-based resources; and interact positively with individuals from diverse backgrounds, particularly American Indians/Alaska Native clients.
