2015 salmon haul on F/V Celtic, a 58’ hansen purse seiner fishing out of Sand Point.
The Pinks and Chums are building in the Alaska Peninsula and Shumagin Islands, but more work is yet to be done if any opportunities for fishing are allowed in this even year.

This edition of In the Loop contains information regarding two programs that are available to help local fishing and other businesses confronting the current challenges associated with the COVID-19 pandemic (the CARES Act Relief Funding for Alaska Fishery Participants and the Paycheck Protection Program). KSDP General Manager Austin Roof will feature two interviews on the programs on Tuesday August 4th at 11 a.m. and at 2 p.m.
This edition also contains information from the Aleutians East Borough School District regarding non-internet-based virtual solutions to make distance learning accessible to students in the district. Students will have the ability to interact with teachers and access study materials at home.
The Cold Bay Library is proud to challenge kids to jump back into reading ahead of the upcoming school year! Children that sign up will be provided an information packet with details, including how to be inserted into a raffle on August 20th, 2020 as well as ideas on how to connect with what they’re reading and encouraging them to share their own summer stories!

At no additional cost to students and families of the Aleutians East Borough, the Aleutians East Borough School District has created a way for students to connect with their teachers and receive schoolwork; all without leaving their homes or connecting to the internet.
In accordance with the State and Federal guidelines for SMART START, the school district will be opening this fall. Amid uncertainty concerning schools reopening, this system provides the opportunity for students to immediately social distance should the situation surrounding COVID-19 worsen.
Some families will be provided with wireless access points to make this possible, all that will be required of them will be to have the access points connected to power.

The company who purchased PenAir from RAVN will be having an interview to answer community questions. The interview will be conducted by KUCB in Unalaska/Dutch Harbor but they want the Aleutians East Borough included!
